Sleeping Fawn
I discovered this sweet little fawn curled up for a nap in a neighbor's yard. Deer are plentiful on the Olympic Peninsula. They're often seen using the crosswalks in Port Townsend.
One evening, I was eating Top Ramen and watching a reality show about life in Alaska. The star had been sneaking around in the woods with his rifle all day long, hoping to shoot some food but finding none. He looked exhausted. I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye, and looked out the window to see three deer munching on my lawn looking back at me!

Cougar in the Olympics
Hiking up the sunlit trail, a shale-covered hill rises on the right and plummets to the valley below on the left. An earie sound comes from up on the hill, and a few pieces of shale slide down toward you. You feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up…what’s up there? Chances are, it may have been a cougar. Sailing Lesson

Sailboat in Port Angeles Marina
There are just enough wispy clouds to provide coolness without interfering with the sunny vibe of the day. A sailboat moored at the dock rocks gently, as water reflects blues, greens, and oranges from trees beginning to show fall colors.

Elk Crossing
Driving near the Queets River, you go around a corner. Suddenly, you see a herd of elk marching out of the woods so you hit the brakes! A majestic buck steps into the road, turns, and watches you as the herd crosses, then turns and follows. There's absolutely no question who has the right of way!
